Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026
This policy explains, in plain language, what personal data JoshWell collects when you use joshwell.com, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. It is written to comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
The short version: we collect very little, we ask before collecting anything optional, and we never sell your personal data.
What we collect
Analytics data. Like most websites, we use analytics to understand which articles people read, roughly where visitors come from, and what devices they use. This helps us decide what to write next and fix what isn't working. Analytics data is aggregated — we use it to understand traffic patterns, not to profile you as an individual.
Push notification subscription (only if you opt in). If you choose to enable push notifications, your browser generates a subscription endpoint — a technical identifier that lets us send notifications to your device. We store this endpoint only if you explicitly click "allow." We never turn on notifications without asking, and saying no changes nothing about your ability to use the site.
Email correspondence. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you and handle your request.
That's it. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, phone number, precise location, or health information.
Why we collect it (lawful purpose)
Under the DPDP Act, personal data may only be processed for lawful purposes. Ours are:
- Running and improving the site — analytics tells us what's useful and what's broken.
- Sending notifications you asked for — the push endpoint exists only to deliver notifications you opted into.
- Responding to you — replying to your emails and resolving grievances.
We practise data minimisation: if we don't need it for one of the purposes above, we don't collect it.
Consent, and how to withdraw it
Push notifications are strictly consent-first. You will only ever receive them if you explicitly allowed them in your browser.
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it:
- In your browser: open your browser's notification settings and block or remove joshwell.com. This stops notifications immediately.
- By email: write to grievance@joshwell.com and we will delete your stored subscription endpoint.
Withdrawing consent never affects your access to the site.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal data.
- We never share it with third parties for their own marketing.
- We never use dark patterns to trick you into consenting.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. When you click one, the merchant's website may set its own cookies and collect its own data under its own privacy policy — that is outside our control. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how these links work.
Children
JoshWell covers adult health topics and is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child's data has reached us, contact our grievance officer and we will delete it.
Grievance officer
As required by the DPDP Act, you can raise any privacy concern — access, correction, erasure, or complaints — with our grievance officer at grievance@joshwell.com. We aim to acknowledge and resolve grievances within the timelines the DPDP Act prescribes. More contact options are on our Contact page.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes affecting your consent will be flagged clearly on the site.
